The Big SitOut
The Big SitOut is a set of curriculum-linked lesson plans for primary school children, and was born out of our biggest fundraiser The Big SleepOut where hundreds of people were sponsored to sleep rough for one night in the freezing cold.
The Big SitOut gives children an opportunity to take part in an event for a couple of hours in the warmer months rather than a whole night in winter!
Homelessness is an issue surrounded by a lot of misunderstanding and teaching the next generation about it can seem like a daunting task. Children are never too young to learn about social action and what better way to do this than by supporting a local charity on your doorstep?

Get Your School Involved
Inspire young people to make a difference while supporting those experiencing homelessness.
We love working with schools to raise awareness and funds to support our work. It’s a great way for students to learn about homelessness, build empathy and take action in their community.
You can get involved in lots of simple and impactful ways:
Book a school assembly – Invite us in to deliver an engaging talk about homelessness, helping students understand the issues and how they can help.
Nominate us as your chosen charity – for events such as Harvest Festival, Christmas appeals, or throughout the school year.
Mufti (non-uniform) days – Students donate to dress down for the day.
School jumper days – A fun way to raise funds and awareness.
Cake sales or bake-offs – Always a favourite and a great way to get everyone involved.
Sponsored events – Walks, runs, or challenges organised by students.
Donation drives – Collect essential items such as toiletries, warm clothing, or food.
Sleep-out events (age-appropriate) – Helping students understand the reality of rough sleeping in a safe and educational way.
Creative fundraising – Talent shows, quizzes, raffles, or competitions.
Every contribution, big or small, helps us continue providing safe accommodation, support, and hope to those who need it most.
If your school would like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.
